Mantautas Krukauskas Sound – common mistakes I think the main mistake which is the mistake from where all other mistakes come from. It is to leave the sound as an after thought. Like not to have enough time or attention for sound. As I mentioned it can be a very powerful tool to augment your idea and make it work really, really well. However, in the same way if this potential is not used it is wasted potential there. So, usually if there is enough attention, and enough time enough energy and budget even for sound or music, if you need it all the problems and mistakes can be solved. But the main thing is to make sure that you think about this part. There can be many options for this. And of course there is also the reality. The ideal option is that the music and sound people are part of the team from the very beginning. Maybe they are not doing that much stuff in the beginning but they’re still conceptually inside. And then when there is this connection to the idea, later when they do their part, or even if it’s the let’s say, part of the post-production they have rooted their ideas, they are more mature. They are more relatable in that case with the other parts of the production that we are creating. So, to my understanding if it’s possible to involve sound from the very beginning, as little as possible, or as much as needed it’s a wise idea. But, of course you have to look at the reality. To the concrete needs of the concrete project because there can be many different ways. And requirements.
